Get Animated!

With the recent debate about whether or not I should accept corporate funding from Skip Slydell, and with an election coming, I've been trying to think of creative ways to advance the cause of getting rights for the differently biotic. Many of us have been dead long enough to be legal voting age--if in fact our citizenship hadn't expired when we did--but until Proposition 77 passes, and anti-zombie legislation like the Undead Citizens Act defeated, we don't really have any legal recourse.

I've been corresponding with a zombie in Ohio named Buttercup (she insists that is her real name, and she claims to be a third generation hippie) who has given me some good ideas, and after talking with the Haunted House crew we decided we would start brainstorming some ideas to affect positive social change--primarily for zombies, but in a way that would be good traditionally biotic people as well.

We're calling it the "Get Animated!" campaign (Get it? "Animated" as in "excited", and also "animated corpse". I thought it was a clever joke. Guess who thought of it?)

What are some of your ideas on how we can work together to make the world a better place for zombie and trad alike?

I think that Get Animated! is really clever, but I think I've heard it somewhere--on TV, I think.

Being a fellow zombie, however, I think it's wonderful that others like us are trying to coexist with trads. As for ideas, I have one. It's this: the government should give us zombies some special rights, and at the same time pass an act that has trad and zombies alike take off one day every other week (two days a month) and gather at a local area and talk, forget about their differences, and pretend that this whole zombie issue never existed.

A little uncreative, I know, but since I died my brain has dried out somewhat.

Um...... I'm not exactly sure on what you can do since I myself barly get out in associate with others but you can try getting accounts on like deviantart or something! I know I have talked with some pretty 'different' people! And websites like those have people from all around the world so you can get someone else's veiw!

I've never been good on that type of stuff. But good luck! 8D I love the name of the campaign too.

i heart zombies! =0 said...

omg this website rules! ok i have a question for tommy that anyone can answer by emailing me at chicachick35@gmail.com; tommy when/ did you change schools?

I think that u should get in contact with every zombie u can and organize a day-long protest for, like, every saturday or something. You could sell or give away stuff like posters and tshirts to promote your cause. you could even have a "zombie rights" fair!

Hey Tommy? Do you have any musically involved zombie friends? 'Cause I was thinking maybe you could hold a concert maybe, like you know how back then they had Woodstock and all these hippies and people who wanted peace went to, instead of that you can have a Peace for Zombies concert. I think it would be fun and buttercup might like the idea since she was there when that happened :P We have some very talented dif. biotic people on our hands here, combine them together and it could be something amazing! ;)

Lots of love,
Nat from Thoughts to be Thought

btw: Tommy do you mind if I post a link to your site on my blog?..Only if you want :)

Hey Tommy,
sorry if I was a little harsh last time but I have strong beliefs, you know? I am not dead but I have lots of dead friends and I always stand up for them if they get picked on. Anyway, I totally agree with Sarah and Nat!!! A day-long protest is an awesome idea!! Maybe you could even organize it so all over the country people will hold their own!! I would totally join!!!

I personally believe that if we can get the absolute strongest following that we can, it could open the doors for zombie kids, and open the eyes of trad kids everywhere- there are so many possibilities, ya' know? Think of the future-it could hold more rights for zombies such as voting, a million different programs, and hey, I sort of like the idea of...ZOMBIEWOOD!!! Hollywood, zombie style, baby.

Hey tommy!
I love the idea of Get Animated!
I think it's a great step toward more coexist with trads.

maybe you guys could do something like work with the crowds who have no problem with zombies in their everyday lives, and rally more people in. maybe not with what slydellco is doing, but more like public events.
like a band that will sing for you guys, and also you could talk to the crowd, about zombie rights,
and things like that.

it might not do the job, but it sure is a start.
whatever you guys do, even if it doesn't come through, will make a change.
because you guys are trying, you guys are working to show the trads that your not going to flip one day and suck their brains out.

and that itself, should be all the more reason for you guys to have some freedom, and be able to coexist just fine.

there a lot of people believing in you already, just work off of that.

Good ideas, everyone. Keep them coming.

Nat, Phoebe and Margi went a little crazy of your idea to have a concert. They were talking about this band Skeleton Crew that they'd heard about that apparently has a zombie for a lead singer. PS feel free to post my blog link. I won't be posting any links on the site but feel free to list your site name in your posts.

You have to do it like the civil rights movement. Look how well that worked. Look how effective it was. You have to march on washington. You have to find a zombie who is a great public speaker (it will be hard, I know) and have them say how you feel. Something really profound.

Also, I totally think you should do the corporate thing. As Popeye pointed out, you are the voice of generation dead. Who better to incite social change?

I think Get Animated is a great idea! And Nat i love the ideas of a concert! I have been trying to get back into singing, but im still pretty slow at talking so rite now im stuck to slow tempos...

Also i had the idea... its another bad one but o well... Maybe us zombies could fix things during the night. Like if we hear something that needs to be fixed or needs help or something... we could fix it or help then leave a note that is signed by us or somthen. Yes i kno lame AGAIN but i want to try and help somehow!

I really like the idea of a concert, I would soooo go to that! um, maybe we could (or other zombies and trads across the country could) somehow organize concerts and get togethers and protests all over the country!! That way, its not just in one place, and you guys get more exposure! You could even try to get a famous person to sponsor! Some people are suckers for celebs!! I'm not completely sure about the whole "how" issue, though. Hopefully, someone will think of something! This is all I got so far!

Haha! Good one Pheobe! I would like to see Tommy on Zombiewood! Zombiewood soap operas! Haha that would be fun, or a zombie festa i was thinking, well 'cuz i'm part Italian background and we have a celebration once a year there's music, food (althought only the trad. people eat), dancing, fireworks, special opening and ending ceremonies. It's just another idea. :P :)

Hey Tommy! I came up with another idea! Maybe we could start having speakers come in to classes to talk about what it is like to be a zombie! How you would feel and wat not! like "how would you like it if you had to go through dyeing and then coming back to life!?! But then you can talk or move as fast and EVERYONE is hating on you???!!!!" do you see wat im gettin to?

Hm...I have an idea. It would, however, involve including Skip Slydellco and his company, so it's just a thought:

What if we took the "Get Animated!" idea...and made it a competition?

Let me explain myself: Mr. Slydellco would promote a nation-wide competition: make a movie following the "Get Animated!" theme, and submit to the competition. First place could be a large monetary sum; 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and so on could be smaller amounts with some of Slydellco's products thrown in (therefore, he gets his product promotion).

The rules of the "Get Animated!" film contest? First of all, the video's storyline must be based on the theme, "Trads and Zombies: Together for a Better Future," or something like that. The storyline is left open, but it must portray (in some way, shape, or form) zombies and trads coming together with successful results. This could be as simple as a highschool romance story or as intense as a natural disaster rescue, and everything in between; it's up to the film makers. Furthermore, the video MUST include both trad and zombie participation.

Videos would be based on creativity, theme, acting, film style, and so forth. The top three could be aired on MTV or some other teen-heavy channel (this would require Skip's help again), and sent to schools for viewing in the classroom. And, of course, the winners would get the prizes (which would have to be encouraging enough to inspire even the most reluctant of trads and zombies to participate).

It would take a lot of coordination, but if it worked, it would get a lot of pro-zombie and pro-trad cooperation media out there (in commercials and such). Plus, zombies and trads would HAVE to work together effectivly to make the films successful.

Just an idea.

Un-live Zombie concert all the way! Haha...a girl can dream right? I wish I was a rockstar and we all wish for peace, it will be like Flower Power all over again! I always wanted to live in those times, times when action happened so dramatically every day. To have a want for peace over war incorporated into music soulfully. Reminds me of John Lennon.

Lots of love,
Nat

Nat----omg, yes. Zombie fiesta----I suggest a huge (grande) Dia de los Muertos celebration. That would be freakin' sweeeet. (and just for the record, Skeleton Crew rocks.)

Hey Tommy! I think it's great how you try to get differently biotic kids accepted by trads. Having a DB as a BFF, I understand how difficult it is for u. I'd suggest getting on a talk show like Oprah or something and explain how diificult it is. That might get people thinking. Good luck and god bless.

hay tommy I think its great you tring to get rights for zombies can i suggest that you try to get the whole undead community in on "get animated" like all the vamps in on it too

I Think the slogan is fun. By the tone of your type, I'm guessing either you, or some one really quiet thought it up. (Colette? Mal?)
I Kinda wish that Generation Dead could be a book that is required text in highschool. It's a real eye opener when it comes to human (living or dead) rights, an d the treatment of people in general.

Ohh . We could have a peace rally ! We could have different dead kids perform. At the rally we could sell merchandise (maybe from the compnay that makes Z?) and have a bunch of trad allies. Make it a dance club and get it promoted. Make start at twilight (right btwn day and night) and promotee it worldwide so everyone knows !

Hey, I've got an idea, what if other zombies started blogs just like this, cool right? Might even help out.
